Focus Areas for 2025–2026 Projects
The Nova Institute seeks proposals that delve into:
Children and Adolescents’ Health: Investigate mental health, chronic illnesses, and family support systems.
Mental Health and Emotional Well-being: Explore the mental health crisis, environmental trauma, and post-pandemic impacts.
Health Inequities and Vulnerable Populations: Examine systemic barriers, racial and economic disparities, and environmental justice.
Transdisciplinary and Intersectional Health Approaches: Connect personal, community, and planetary well-being through innovative storytelling.
Projects should aim for public dissemination and incorporate scientific accuracy, data-driven insights, and inclusive engagement strategies.

Eligibility Criteria

Commit to science-driven, solutions-focused storytelling.
Reside in the U.S. for the full 12-month duration of the fellowship.
The Nova Institute encourages applications from people of color, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, Indigenous journalists, people with disabilities, and those from historically marginalized communities.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
Project Proposal: Outline topic, goals, format, audience, and publication plans.
Résumé or CV: Current and comprehensive.
Work Samples: Examples of prior journalism (published or aired).
Editorial Structure: For newsrooms, a description of editorial priorities.
Letters of Recommendation: Finalists will provide 1–2 letters.
